Kawerau seeking Christmas director
25 March 2015
KAWERAU District Council is on the hunt for a show director to manage the town’s annual evening show as part of the Christmas in the Park celebrations.
Events and community activities team leader Lee Barton said the event at Prideaux Park provided a variety of entertainment and attracted around 10,000 people.
The show was previously directed by Monty Morrison, from Creating Moments of Magic, but this era drew to a close in 2014 when he announced his retirement, Mr Barton said.
The council was seeking expressions of interest from show directors, event managers, or production companies capable of producing a top-quality evening on a par with or higher than the town’s recent Christmas shows.
Mr Barton said Christmas in the Park comprised three events, starting with the Santa Parade at 11am and the community Christmas concert at 1pm.
The show director was required for the variety concert, which began on the main stage at 7pm, he said.
Detailed information, which included the day’s format, roles, responsibilities and expected outcomes, was available from Kawerau
District Council’s website, Mr Barton said.
A deadline for expressions of interest was April 24.
