Warning alarm installed

A NEW warning alarm was installed in Kawerau’s Ron Hardie Recreation Centre last month to tell users when geothermal gas reaches unacceptable levels.
Kawerau District Council received an update about the centre during a council meeting on Tuesday.
Operations and services manager Tom McDowall said the alarm would monitor hydrogen sulphide gas.
He said a report would be presented to the council this month with timelines for upgrading the centre’s
floor and interior paint work.
