KAWERAU BMX star Sarah Walker claimed the North Island title in Taupo on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Olympic silver medallist took out the event, which also doubled as a UCI category one event, carrying Olympic qualifying points.
The win came at the end of a long international campaign where Walker competed in the world championships and world cup races. Walker finished clear of fellow Cycling New Zealand high performance rider Hannah Sarten, who had two seconds and a third, to be clear of Gisborne’s Monique Smith.
Walker is just over a year removed from a horrific crash which sidelined her for five months.
