THE Warehouse founder Sir Stephen Tindall will speak at the launch of a new foundation aiming to financially support community initiatives in the Eastern Bay.

The Eastern Bay Community Foundation is holding its official launch on Tuesday, April 21, at an invite-only function in Whakatane.

Foundation executive officer Sarah-Jane Hasman said the venture was “a brand new community foundation set up to serve the Eastern Bay, covering Whakatane, Opotiki and Kawerau”.

Its role was to inspire generous individuals and organisations to support the new and emerging needs of Eastern Bay communities.

Ms Hasman said the foundation aimed to become a trusted vehicle through which individuals, families, businesses, groups of like-minded people and the community could invest their generous donations to build a permanent legacy in the communities they served.

The foundation was a charitable trust, established to receive gifts and legacies in the form of endowments to be invested for the lasting benefit of community organisations and causes.
