TARAWERA High School’s top netballers are looking forward to testing their new shoes this weekend after winning sports gear worth $4000.
The school’s premier netball team was nominated for a competition run by Radio 1XX and Podium Footwear, and won new shoes, socks, jackets, and bags.
Tarawera High School sports co-ordinator Amy Hayes said a student from the school filled out a form and nominated the team which was lucky enough to be drawn from a hat.
“They were just blown away and they were grateful and excited. They can’t wait to put on their new gear and get out on the court this weekend,” she said.
The team played its first game of the 2015 season on Saturday and beat Opotiki 39 to 37.
