Coast to college fundraiser

EDGECUMBE College hosts its annual fundraising race from Thornton to Edgecumbe on March 21.
The event, previously known as Town to Sea or Sea to Town, has been renamed Coast to College.
Deputy principal Rene Otto said that last year 72 runners, walkers, kayakers and cyclists entered the event and they were hoping for greater numbers this year.
Participants have the option of paddling the eight kilometres from Thornton Beach to the college, walking or running the distance, or cycling.
Medals would be awarded to the first 60 runners, first 30 cyclists and first 10 kayakers, he said.
The event coincides with a gala at the college, running from 9am till noon.
