THE EASTERN Bay Dog Obedience Club hosted its annual obedience show at Kawerau’s Prideaux Park last weekend.
Club member Tina Mitchell said 70 dogs competed each day across five classes.
In the beginner’s class, dogs were expected to change direction, stop and sit while on a lead.
Dogs competing in test c were off a lead and expected to sit in different ways, change direction, move in circles, and identify items with different scents.
She said one Eastern Bay dog was entered, and participants travelled from Wellington, north of Auckland and New Plymouth for the competition.
Ms Mitchell is the manager of the club’s annual agility show at Prideaux Park, planned for later this year.
She said preparation for the event on April 11 and 12 began in September last year and 200 to 300 entries were expected.
