Praise for Kawerau gardens
24 February 2015
SUMMER flower beds around Kawerau have received positive comments from bother visitors and residents.
Kawerau District Council heard about progress around the town’s parks and reserves at its first regulatory and services committee meeting of 2015 on February 10.
Operations and services manager Tom McDowall said the focus over January was lifting the canopy of trees over the Boyce, Stoneham and Waterhouse Street reserves.
Teams from the Department of Corrections had also begun removing undergrowth between the fields and the Tarawera River.
These teams also removed material from the Valley Road culvert in January, and will continue to clear the material from Stoneham Walk this month.
In February, the focus shifted to lifting the canopy of street trees around Tarawera Park.
